Volume One No. 1

August 2008

To celebrate the 10 years of Asian Tigers Premier World Wide Movers operations in Japan we have launched a bi-monthly newsflash for our valued clients and agents. Please enjoy!

Who will pack your dinosaur bones? Asian Tigers of course!

Antiques? Valuables? Unusual shapes and sizes?
Look no further than Asian Tigers Premier Worldwide Movers as the company to pack just about anything; including for one customer a Triceratops skull and Dinosaur eggs in their nest!

When one of Japan’s leading museums sold its collection of two dinosaur skeletons and 24 fossils of various sizes to an auction house in North America for display and future on-selling they contacted Asian Tigers, the only International Relocation company with the experience and skills to pack and freight these valuable and fragile articles.

A team of 15 experienced packers took 5 days to dismantle and pack these bones and fossils into crates and then into 20' and 40' containers.

After careful dismantling, the bones and fossils are packed in foam sheets cut to size then into individual crates. This crate holds part of the tail of the dinosaur in the pictures.

Import Update: Animal Quarantine Regulations

When referring to the Japanese animal quarantine website when importing animals – esp. dogs or cats, it is important to note the most recent changes (last update on the website posted 2005).

The time period for blood tests to be carried out to screen for rabies by a registered Veterinarians (see web-site) has increased from 40 days to 180 days.

If this time-frame is not met , upon the pet’s arrival in Japan, it will be required to be placed in animal quarantine until the 180 period is completed. While the facilities for the cat or dog are adequate (air-conditioned, single room, basic pet food supplied) payment is required: approximately Y 3 - 5,000 daily. If specific dog or cat food is required that will need to be provided. The same applies to any shampoo service requested. Daily exercise is provided upon request, but is free.

News

Over 150 guests including corporate clients, vendors and employees, joined the Asian Tigers 10th anniversary celebration on April 1st. The party launched a year celebrating 10 years of service with the theme of "Ten years strong".

Joining Managing Director Nick Masee to celebrate was the Asian Tigers Group Chairman Gordon Bell, who, with other members of the BOARD including Eric Lim, Jean-Jacques Borgstedt, Gerry Lane, Allen Fan, Bill Reinsch and Joseph Song, flew into Tokyo to attend.

In his welcome speech Nick Masee gave praise to his team and thanked the Board for their continued support.

"Our future looks incredibly bright as we continue becoming a stronger company each year. After 10 years of hard work by a very dedicated and talented team of professionals supporting all of our activities and competing head to head with long-established competitors, we are the market leader here in Tokyo."

"Our reputation for quality has enabled us to attract and retain the continued support of hundreds of different multi-national companies. As we look forward our goal is to continue to improve our quality and the overall experience our clients enjoy. With the help and support of our valuable customers we know we can grow into an even stronger company."

These past ten years have been quite an incredible ride, says Nick. Our global partners played a major role in helping us develop our name and reputation in the Japan market. A diverse approach to our marketing in Tokyo played another very important role as we used a combination of advertising, sponsorship and direct selling to get our name known. Ten years later, we see the results of our overall effort by the ever increasing number of referrals we get from so many sources.

During this evening of festivities Nick Masee presented to two staff, Andrew Olea (Director of Sales & Marketing) and Rie Satoh (Import Manager), their Ten Year Employment awards. Nick has also achieved his Ten year award, but obviously did not present that to himself on the night!

When we started the Asian Tigers office in Japan - we had no customers, accounts, database or marketing materials says Andrew. Together with our initial team and under the overall leadership of Nick Masee - we planted the seeds for what was to make us the market leader in Japan 10 years later. It has been exciting and fun to get to where we are now.

Rie remembers when we started our business at a little office with small number of staff but grew so fast that we moved to our larger office in Toranomon only a few years later. She enthuses that "after 10 years, we have emerged as the leader in our industry in Japan. I'm proud of being a member of Premier and of having grown along with Premier these last ten years and I really look forward to the next ten."
